More than 120,000 businesspeople from around the world attended the 2018 China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT), which took place in Xiamen, Fujian province from Sept 8 to 11.
These businesspeople came from 1,005 industrial and commerce associations and about 5,000 companies representing 128 countries and regions.
A total of 617 guests shared their ideas at 87 forums themed on investment promotion and more than 2,500 institutions from home and abroad promoted themselves at the 130,000-square meter exhibition area of the event with 6,000 booths.
Some 1,982 projects secured a total investment of 527.5 billion yuan ($76.8 billion) at the 2018 CIFIT.

The Czech Republic, this year’s guest country of honor, set up a 500-square meter pavilion to showcase its advantageous geological location, preferential investment policies, high quality projects, rich tourism resources and special products.
Klara Jurcova, deputy director of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in China, hoped to promote her home country to more people on the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Czech Republic with the help of CIFIT.
Yunnan province, this year’s guest province of honor, erected a pavilion of 1,000 square meters to introduce its favourable investment climate, green energy, green food and healthy lifestyle.
Shenyang, this year’s Star City, reserved a 3,600-square meter pavilion for the five major cities in Shenyang Economic Zone to display their leading industries and featured products.

A Maritime Silk Road Countries Pavilion covering 2,000 square meters was established at the 2018 CIFIT, which attracted members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and more than 20 countries along the Belt and Road route, including Pakistan, Jordan, and Spain.
Moreover, this year’s fair also welcomed 139 delegations from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, including Invest Hong Kong, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Macao Chamber of Commerce, Taiwan Federation of Industries, and Taiwan Trade Center.
Hong Kong and Macao showed their features at their respective pavilions and the fair hosted the 13th Cross-Strait Economic & Trade Cooperation & Development Forum along with China’s Ministry of Commerce and Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, making great contributions to the trade and economic exchanges and cooperation between Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
Online CIFIT, launched this year, attracted approximately 1,000 renowned Chinese companies to sign up for its project matchmaking activities, including information technology, new energy, equipment manufacturing and other seven popular industrial sectors.
