Customs Support China-made Drilling Rigs to Go Glo
时间:2015-8-21

Recently, with the help of Yantai Customs House(affiliated to Qingdao Customs District),a mid-water semi submersible drilling rig manufactured by Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Limited (CIMC Raffles) left Yantai port and was ferried overseas to start its operation.

“Support from Customs is very important in the delivery of this drilling rig. The quality customs services save us time, so that we can cut short the production cycle, which also means a sharp reduction of production cost”, said Wei Chuntao, Manager of the trading department of CIMC Raffles. The company spent only 35 months on building the drilling rig (from contract signing to delivery), one that can work in any seas except for in sea ice.

The implementation of the Road and Belt Initiative presents a new business opportunity for Marine Engineering industry. Yantai Customs House adopted a full range of measures to help enterprises seize the opportunity, which included providing such one-stop services as policy explanation and assistance on classification, making things easier by using the E-based customs control models for bonded operation and opening green channels for the efficient release of the large quantity of equipment and materials needed in building the drilling rigs.
