Styron Assumes Dow's 50% Interest In Polycarbonate JV with Sumitomo Tokyo - Styron has acquired Dow Chemical Co.'s 50% holding in the Sumitomo Dow Ltd. Asian polycarbonate joint venture with Sumitomo Chemical. Styron noted that the acquisition, for which financial terms were not disclosed, is consistent with Dow’s divestiture of Styron to Bain Capital in June. The venture will operate under a new name that will be announced around the end of this year, and will continue to be based in Tokyo. Styron has a strong commitment to its polycarbonates, compounds and blends businesses, "and plans to pursue growth opportunities for these products, particularly in the Asia Pacific geography," said Styron President and Chief Executive Chris Pappas.
